VOLTA NY is an invitational show of emerging solo artists’ projects and the American incarnation of the successful young fair founded in Basel in 2005. SCOPE Art Show returns to landmark venue, Skylight at Moynihan Station, for its 14th New York edition. Ink Art at the MET: Past as Present in Contemporary China

Museum of the City of New York Exhibits Martin Wong’s Extensive Street Art Collection

The Museum of the City of New York is exhibiting Martin Wong’s extensive Street Art Collection, February 4 – August 24. Martin Wong, an East Village artist and collector of graffiti art, amassed a treasure trove of hundreds of works, consisting of artists such as Keith Haring, Lee Quiñones, Lady Pink, and Futura 2000. The Martin Wong Collection includes over 150 works on canvas and other media, along with photographs of graffiti writing long erased from subways and buildings.

Chinese New Year 2014

The Chinese New Year — The Lunar Year — starts tomorrow, Friday, January 31. 500,000 firecrackers will be lit in the Lower East Side’s Sara D. Roosevelt Park on January 31, 11pm. If you can’t make the firework show, there’s always the Annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade Festival on Sunday, February 2, 1pm.
