The Chinese New Year — The Lunar Year — starts tomorrow, Friday, January 31. 500,000 firecrackers will be lit in the Lower East Side’s Sara D. Roosevelt Park on January 31, 11pm. If you can’t make the firework show, there’s always the Annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade Festival on Sunday, February 2, 1pm.

Korean Restaurant Week Ends this Weekend

The first annual Korean Restaurant Week in the New York City comes to an end this weekend, SundayNovember 3. Korean Restaurant Week NYC features several restaurants throughout Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and even parts of Northern New Jersey. Participating restaurants throughout the NYC metro area will be offering different deals all week, ranging from prix fixe menus, Korean BBQ packages, meal discounts and special dish offerings.

KiKu: The Art of the Japanese Garden at the New York Botanical Garden

Kiku: The Art of the Japanese Garden presents chrysanthemums in homage to hanami, the traditional custom of enjoying the ephemeral beauty of flowers. Hundreds of meticulously trained kiku will be on display in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory at the New York Botanical Garden. Complement your visit with a special taste of Japan in Stephen STARR Event’s limited-run Japanese Pop-Up Restaurant. Show runs through October 27, open on Sundays.

All-Garden pass tickets start at $20 for adults; $8 for kids 2-12.

The kid friendly Randall’s Island Fall Festival is taking place on Saturday, October 5, at the Urban Farm. Join the festivities as attendees hunt for pumpkins, enjoy apple cider demonstrations and tastings, participate in arts and crafts activities, and get their faces painted.

Dumbo Art Festival this Weekend (Free)

The Dumbo Art Festival is a free, three-day celebration of art, music and performance in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Art revelers can enjoy outdoor and indoor visual art installations and exhibitions; experience digital art and large scale projections; visit artists in their studios and watch dancers, poets and performers throughout the neighborhood. The festival attracts over 200,000 people and has upwards of 400 artists from a variety of disciplines who participate.

NY Beer Festival 2013 at Randall’s Island

The inaugural New York Beer Festival will take place Saturday, September 21st, 12pm – 4pm, at Randall’s Island. The festival will feature dozens of breweries, hundreds of beers, food trucks, live music, and much more. Admission includes unlimited beer sampling, with VIP attendees getting an extra hour of admission and some specialty beers poured during the first hour.
