On Saturday, October 19, celebrate Mexico’s beloved 3,000 year-old tradition that remembers friends and family members who have passed away at El Museo del Barrio. Join the celebration by adding your own offering to El Museo’s altars and enjoying the colorful procession around the Harlem Meer, storytelling, face painting and dance performances. 11am – 5pm. MoMA PS1, Flavorpill and EmblemHealth are collaborating to offer a free yoga class on Saturday, September 28, 11am – 1pm. The class will be held at the VW Dome at MoMA PS1, 22-25 Jackson Avenue (Long Island City). The class is being conducted by the inspiring Rima Rabbath and will be followed by a tai chi class led by the Thomas Droge. Beginners and pros alike are welcome. On Tuesday, August 27, learn the intricacies of pairing Spanish wine and cheeses from Spanish wine expert, Kerin Auth. Kerin, owner of Tinto Fino, will educate participants on her personal favorite wine selections while cheese expert, Waldemar Albrecht, will lead the cheese section of the class. Summer on the Hudson invites you to learn kayaking for free at various locations throughout the city: Pier 96, Pier 40, 72nd Street and Governors Island. This Sunday, August 18, there will be free lessons at the 72nd Street location. Wear a bathing suit or shorts and a t-shirt, and know how to swim. Weather permitting. No registration required.
