Printed Matters presents the eighth annual NY Art Book Fair, where you can find artists’ books, catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines. Last year, the fair featured 283 booksellers, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers from twenty-six countries, and was attended by more than 25,000 people. New York City Center celebrates the 10th Annual Season of the Fall Dance Festival, hosted by The Public at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Entertainment and performances include the New York City Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company, STREB Extreme Action Company and more. Date: September 16 and September 17, 8pm (rain date Sept. 18th). Free tickets will be distributed, two per person, at 12pm on the day of each performance.
3rd Ward, a creative workspace and education center, is hosting Make ‘n’ TakePop-up Shop inside the Chelsea Market. 3rd Ward is known for its community of makers and entrepreneurs in technology, craft, art and design. Its new pop-up shop in the iconic Chelsea Market will host daily workshops this weekend, September 13 – September 15. Chelsea Market is located at 75 9th Avenue.
Leila Heller is pleased to announce Calligraffiti 1984 – 2013, on view from September 5 – October 5. Originally curated in 1984 by Jeffrey Deitch (Director, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles) at Leila Heller’s former uptown gallery, Calligraffiti explored a myriad of possible connections shared between the seemingly disparate styles of select mid-century abstract, U.S. graffiti, and calligraphic artists from the Middle East and its diaspora. The show includes a diverse palette of artists such as: Franz Kline, Jean Dubuffet, Cy Twombly, LA2, Keith Haring, Jean-Michell Basquiat, Leila Pazooki, El Seed, Shirin Neshat, Retna and many others. BEAT is a yearly performing arts festival that features the best Brooklyn talent in the areas of theater, dance & voice. The festival will take place at selected Brooklyn venues and will host events such as Museum MashUps, Brooklyn 63 and Freestyle Mondays. Opening night is tomorrow, Thursday, September 12, 7pm at the Brooklyn Museum (200 Eastern Parkway). The festival runs from September 12th – September 21st.

The annual festival celebrates the spirit of the early Italian immigrants and is expected to attract over a million people from around the world.
