Art: Metropolitan Museum’s Search for the Unicorn


The Metropolitan Museum’s Search for the Unicorn — an exhibition in honor of The Cloisters’ 75th Anniversary — is coming to a close on Sunday, August 18. Given by John D. Rockefeller Jr. in time for the opening of The Cloisters in 1938, the Unicorn Tapestries are considered masterpieces, but their history and meaning remain elusive. They have been seen both as complicated metaphors for Christ and as emblems of matrimony, and they are beloved as quaint indications of medieval notions about the natural world.

Class: Introduction to Indian Cooking


Learn the secrets to using Indian spices and cooking techniques on Tuesday, August 13, 6pm – 8:30pm. The class will teach vegetarian dishes such as Mango-Cardamom Lassis, Braised Fish in a Tamarind-Coconut Curry, Matar Paneer, Red Lentil Dal with Tadka and Basmati Rice Pilaf with Whole Spices.
