Fashion: Sneaker Con NYC at Basketball City

Sneaker Con NYC will be exhibiting 100 – 150 sneaker vendors on Saturday, July 13, at the newly renovated Basketball City space, located at Pier 36, 299 South Street. Tickets are $15 and the event will take place from 12pm – 7pm.

Kid Friendly: Ballroom Dance for Kids at Damrosch Park (Free)

Midsummer Night Swing gives kids (ages 6 – 10) the opportunity to learn ballroom dance, merengue, tango and salsa. Dance instructor, Rodney Lopez, from Mad Hot Ballroom, teaches kids the basics for an hour and a half. Lessons are free and will be taking place at Damrosch Park (Amsterdam Ave. West 62nd Street) on Saturday, July 13, 3pm.

Performance: Drums and Dance of India – Riverside Park South (Free)

On Sunday, July 14, Riverside Park invites you to experience and enjoy the classical performing arts of India with the all-female percussion ensemble Taalika: Women of Tabla, and acclaimed kathak dancer, Jin Won. The performance will be located at Pier i, Riverside Park South, and will begin promptly at 7pm. All ages welcome. Free.

Movie: Habana Outpost Presents School Daze (Free)

Habana Outpost presents a free outdoor screening of Spike Lee’s 1988 classic, School Daze. This American musical-drama — written and directed by Spike Lee, and starring Laurence Fishburne, Giancarlo Esposito, and Tisha Campbell-Martin — will be showing on Sunday, July 14, at 757 Fulton Street. Movie starts at 8pm.
